Well, the rumors had been swirling for quite a while, but now we have official confirmation that Gilmore Girls will end after it finishes its seventh season. 

Feel free to mock me, but I really like Gilmore Girls. As a matter of fact the show was, for a little while, my favorite thing on TV a few years back. Yes, I like it that much.

Still, as much as a might like it, this seems like a good place to end things. Seven years is a respectable run for any TV show. And truth be told, the last couple of seasons have seen a decline in quality, with this last one specifically being probably the show’s weakest to date. Ending the show with Rory finishing off college makes sense. And finishing it now prevents it from ever becoming really bad.

But even tough I think this cancellation was a good decision, it still leaves me a little sad. I guess that is what always happens with good TV series. You spend years with these charming characters, accompanying the ins and outs of their lives. And then, all of a sudden, they cease to exist. And you are left wondering what ever happened to them. 

Of course, time will pass, new good series will emerge, and we will all quickly get over not having this particular series anymore. And maybe, once in a while, we will take a quick trip down memory lane with the DVDs, too quench whatever longing might still be there.

I just hope the give the series a good, conclusive send off. They have known the end was a possibility for a long time, so they must have been prepared for it. Or at least I hope so, because there is nothing worse than seeing beloved series end with a cliffhanger.
