So, M. Night Shyamalan has finally sold his newest original script, now called The Happening. The film found a home at Fox and it should be Night's next directing project.

This script became somewhat infamous because every major studio initially passed on it. Shymalan had to take notes and do some rewrites in order to get it sold. This is a big change for Shymalan, who used to be able to pic any studio he wanted and do whatever he felt like in his movies since The Sixth Sense hit it big. But one huge, watery flop changed all that.

I do wonder if it isn't for the best tough. Shymalan is incredibly talented, especially as a director, but he had become way too self indulgent and arrogant. A little humbling might be just what the doctor ordered. Also, The Happening will apparently be an edgier, R rated thriller, which certainly makes it more interesting. Let's see how this one will turn out.
