Ghost Rider took $51.5 million on it's first four days of release. So, if you were wondering whether comic book movies were still going strong, the answer is a resounding yes.

And I have to say, I'm surprised. Ghost Rider looked to me like the text book case of chasing a fad to disastrous results. After all, this is not exactly one of the most famous comic book characters around. Not to mention that the visual effects looked pretty bad and that the film is apparently not so good. And yet, the movie is a hit. Word of mouth will probably keep it from being a huge hit, but it is a hit nevertheless. And don't expect Spider-Man 3 to cool things down.

Meanwhile, Hot Fuzz toped the U.K. box office charts this weekend. The movie took an impressive $11.5 million in its first five days. Hot Fuzz is the next project from the people that were behind (and in front) of the wonderful Shaun Of The Dead. And the reactions to the movie seem to have been quite positive. So I'm definitely looking forward to this one. It opens around here April 20.
