Most interesting developments so far:

1. Letters From Iwo Jima  winning the LA Film Critics award. Apparently it is being much better received than Flags
2. The surprising strength of United 93, which has been mentioned by various groups and even won the New York Film Critics Circle award for best film
3. Sacha Baron Cohen winning the LA critics award for best actor (tie with Forest Whitaker), and being a runner-up in the NY awards
4. The lack of love for Volver

Just thinking about Baron Cohen attending the Oscars as a nominee already makes me giggle. It is still far shot though.
